Current Weather Conditions
South Coastal Maine...

Sixty-two square miles comprise the Town of Wells which has a year round population of about 10,000. The town has several different sections with interesting names. The most southern beach area of Wells is Moody Beach, next is Wells Beach, and the most northerly beach is at Drakes Island. To the west are High Pine, Wells Branch, and the Merriland Ridge area. Together, these areas make up the Town of Wells!

The Wells Police Department includes a Patrol Division, a Detective and Youth Affairs Bureau, and a Communication Division providing 24 hour emergency service and information. The Wells Fire Department consists of 7 full-time firefighters, 37 volunteer firefighters, and a full-time Fire Chief. Wells Emergency Medical Service (WEMS) provides 24 hour-a-day ambulance service and has a full-time director and 35 part-time employees.

Most of the population along U.S. Route 1 and the ocean is served by public water from the Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, and Wells Water District, and by public sewer through the Wells Sanitary District. A recycling and transfer station takes refuse from property taxpayers (a sticker is required), and from the several independent collectors. Cable television service is provided for most of Wells by Time Warner.
